A shooting in northeast Kansas City left one person dead and another injured

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – Police responded to shots fired in Kansas City’s historic Northeast neighborhood around 3 a.m. this morning.

It happened at Roberts Street and Bales Avenue, just off Independence Avenue.

When police arrived, they found a man shot. He was taken to hospital and is expected to recover.

A short time later, according to the police, another man who was also shot reported who was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle. He died of his injuries.

Police believe an argument between the two began outside near a car with “multiple people,” but details are scarce.

Anyone with helpful information is asked to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477). A significant reward will be offered for information leading to the closure of the case.

Police are combing through security footage in hopes of learning more about what led to this fatal shooting.
