The latest reports from Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Tech Research, suggest that Apple will offer a 48-megapixel telephoto camera with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, a significant upgrade over the 12-megapixel telephoto lens of the current iPhone 16 Pro models. The front camera on these new Pro models will also remain at 12 megapixels, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro series.

Performance improvements are also planned. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to have 12GB of RAM, which is a significant increase over the 8GB in the current Pro versions. This could improve the phone’s multitasking ability and boost overall performance, especially with AI-driven features. In addition, Apple is said to be working on slimming down the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which will be made possible by smaller components for Face ID using a new “Metalens” technology.
