PHOENIX, AZ – A man is dead after he was shot by Phoenix police officers at a shopping center Sunday evening.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers were called to the area of ​​35th Avenue and Glendale Avenue for a report of a man entering a business.

When police arrived and tried to make contact with the man, he ran into a back room.

At some point a fight broke out between the man and the officers. Police say the officers used a Taser on the man, although the man got his hands on the Taser and the officer-involved shooting occurred.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two officers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This is the second officer-involved shooting in the Valley on Sunday. Chandler police were involved in a shooting earlier today, but no injuries were reported.
