Two men in serious condition after an officer-involved shooting in Waipahu

WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man was seriously injured after he was shot by Honolulu police officers responding to a dispute at a Waipahu residence Sunday evening.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, officers went to a residence in Aniani Place just before 7 p.m. after reports of a domestic dispute. HPD said, “Officers encountered an armed man attacking another man and shot him.”

Authorities said the gunman was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Honolulu EMS said the seriously injured man was 18 years old and was being treated “for an apparent gunshot wound to the midsection.”

Multiple sources said he was armed with a machete.

EMS also said a 23-year-old man was treated for his apparent injuries and taken to a hospital emergency room in serious condition.
