The Toyota Tour eGolf Championship will crown the first national indoor golf champion who will compete in the Yaris Cup

The Toyota Tour eGolf (TTeG) Championship concluded on Friday with a thrilling grand finale at the MST Golf Arena at The Gardens Mall. This crowned the country’s first ever indoor golf champion, who will compete in the Toyota Tour Yaris Cup in November alongside Malaysia’s top tour professionals. After five months of regional competitions at MST Golf Arena locations The Gardens Mall, Tropicana Gardens Mall, Gurney Paragon Mall and Toppen Shopping Centre, 16 gross champions emerged from over 300 non-professional golfers, one step closer to a Malaysian high point the professional golf event, the Toyota Tour Yaris Cup, also known as the Professional Golf of Malaysia (PGM) Tour.

Golfers of all ages, both men and women, including juniors, came from April to August to compete in this groundbreaking 9-hole eGolf championship. With prizes worth over RM200,000, the championship also attracted fans from monthly sponsors golf brands TaylorMade, Under Armour, COBRA PUMA, HONMA and adidas and rewarded participants in the monthly raffles. TTeG raffle prizes worth over RM200,000 were awarded throughout the championship. The sponsors of the grand draw were Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation, Ikhlas Travel by AirAsia MOVE and Villea Rompin Resort & Golf, which further increased the excitement among golf enthusiasts.

The grand finale featured 18 holes of remarkable virtual golf courses such as Doral Blue Monster, Abu Dhabi, Marina Bay, Pebble Beach and Royal Troon with difficult weather conditions that posed challenges for even the most experienced players. The competition followed Stableford’s modified stroke play rules and pushed players to adapt their strategies in the mixed course setup.

Despite the difficulty, 22-year-old Bryan Tan, The Gardens Mall’s June grand winner, triumphed at 3 over par to secure a golf voucher worth RM2,000 MST and a place in the Toyota Tour Yaris Cup. Gurney Paragon Mall June Gross Champion Chan Kai Vernn finished second at 5 over par and received a cash voucher worth RM1,500 MST Golf. The Gardens Mall April Gross Champion Ng Kee Siang finished second at 6 over par and took home a cash voucher worth RM1,000 MST Golf. The top three finalists also secured a spot in the Toyota Tour Championship (ADT) Pro-Am Championship.

Fourth and fifth places went to Lim Jen Jeann and Robert Horridge, who won RM800 and RM500 MST Golf cash vouchers respectively. Gavin Fung, June Gross Champion of The Gardens Mall, won a TaylorMade Qi10 Driver for Nearest to Line. In the grand finale, the team championship also went to Tropicana Gardens Mall, which had the lowest team score. As a reward for their outstanding performance, the team receives sponsored adidas clothing. All finalists also received 30 hours of free play at the MST Golf Arena.

The Grand Raffle was one of the most anticipated portions of the Grand Finale, with all 300+ entrants vying for one of the Grand Raffle’s eight luxury golf and stay packages. The more rounds they played to improve their ranking in the monthly competitions, the greater their chances of winning.

One of the monthly finalists, Kevin Siow, was the grand prize winner of the draw, taking home a 6D5N Luxury Golf Escape for two at Meeru Maldives Resort worth RM57,000. Other prizes were sponsored by Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation, Ikhlas Travel by AirAsia Move and Villea Rompin Resort & Golf, making the grand draw with golf and stay packages worth over RM100,000 an exciting conclusion to the tournament.

The Toyota Tour eGolf Championship is a partnership between UMW Toyota Motor, MST Golf and PGM. The goal is to grow the sport and attract new and amateur players. The inaugural event set a new benchmark for indoor golf by combining advanced technology with large-scale competition to ignite a passion for golf and increase the confidence of amateur golfers in an indoor environment.
