After two years on the run, a Texas murder suspect was captured in northwest Iowa

POMEROY, Iowa (KCCI) —

After more than two years on the run, a murder suspect from Houston, Texas, was captured in northwest Iowa.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old Kyle Andrew Coolack was arrested Sunday morning. They say he was staying at a home in Pomeroy and the homeowner called authorities and told them he had kicked a man out of his home.

He told authorities the man was possibly heading south toward Fort Dodge and had admitted to other household members that he was on the run because he killed his brother.

Coolack was stopped by a Calhoun County deputy just outside Pomeroy on Highway 4. He initially gave a false identity but later admitted it.

Coolack had an outstanding arrest warrant from Houston police for the murder of his brother, Brad Coolack. After being arrested and taken to the Carroll County Jail, he is awaiting extradition to Texas.
