Michelle Yeoh returns as the deadly Empress Phillipa Georgiou, joining Starfleet’s Black Ops division.

Over the weekend, Paramount+ took advantage of New York Comic Con 2024 to provide a progress update on various aspects of Comic Con 2024 Star Trek Franchise.

Since her company’s film department doesn’t seem to be able to produce anything since 2016 Star Trek: Beyondis the next live-action feature Star Trek: Section 31, a “Paramount+ Original Movie.” Is this a feature film? Previously we would have called it a TV movie or a feature-length episode. Who knows these days, when films made for the cinema debut on streamers?

No matter what you call it, Star Trek: Section 31 The main role is played by Michelle Yeoh. She reprises her role as Empress of the Mirror Universe Phillipa Georgiou, who appeared in the first seasons Star Trek: Discovery. In the new film, she joins a secret branch of Starfleet. She is tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, but must also face the sins of her past.

In addition to the Oscar winner, the film’s cast also includes Omari Hardwick (Performance), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny and Georgia) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Also Miku Martineau (Kate), who plays the young Philippa Georgiou.

The film was written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.

Star Trek: Section 31 will premiere internationally on the Paramount+ streaming service January 24, 2025.
