AMONG THESE ASHES unveil lyric video for “Serpents Among Rats.”

Melodic/power thrashers Among These Ashes will release their new album Embers Of Elysium on December 6th via Alone Records. The album contains 12 new tracks as well as a bonus song by the band.

A lyric video for the new single “Serpents Among Rats” is now available:

“It’s very difficult for me to choose one of our favorite songs because I have to love the track for it to make it onto one of our albums,” explains guitarist Richard Clark. “Still, ‘Serpents Among Rats’ is exceptionally memorable for me because it embodies all of my favorite elements of metal. It’s melodic, heavy and aggressive; the lyrics are clever, the vocals are beautifully performed and the band is captivating.” Lyrically, this track is about how the social elite, especially politicians, manipulate and foment division among people. The text encourages seeing through this behavior and working together to overcome it.

As for the upcoming album Embers Of Elysium, Clark goes on to say that it’s “quite a leap for us from Dominion Enthroned in every way.” While “Dominion” was a complete concept album, the first eight tracks on “Embers Of Elysium” are standalone. and the final four titles are part of a fictional sci-fi/horror concept called Chronicles Of The Obsidian Reign. I can say with complete humility that every song on this album has been executed without compromise. I think we have executed it tastefully and precisely, and I hope that it will be well received by listeners.
