The warming trend is making the Midlands a “no-chill” zone

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – As our work week progresses, afternoon high temperatures are expected to rise a few degrees.

Lows Monday morning will be in the low to mid 40s, but that will change throughout the week with lows climbing into the low 50s.

The region is expected to receive more moisture as a low pressure system moves north from the Caribbean.

This moisture is not expected to bring us any rainfall in the Midlands, but it will help our overnight lows gradually rise.

In general, dry weather is expected in the longer term, with another dry front moving through our area.

Overall, it will be a nice week with lots of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures.

For Halloween, the forecast calls for lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s.

TROPICAL UPDATE:

Residents of Cuba experienced a massive power outage after hitting the southeastern Bahamas early Sunday morning.

Hurricane Oscar made landfall in eastern Cuba with maximum sustained wind speeds of 120 km/h.

The system is expected to cross eastern Cuba on Sunday evening and Monday.

Eastern Cuba is forecast to receive 6 to 12 inches of rain through early Wednesday, with up to 18 inches in some isolated areas.

The center predicted a storm surge of up to 3 feet for some regions on Cuba’s northern coast.
