UNC basketball product Nassir Little, who spent a year in Chapel Hill before leaving early and being drafted 25th overall in 2019, has 237 NBA regular-season games to his name. He has averaged 5.5 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in his professional career, starting with four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers before moving to the Phoenix Suns prior to the 2023-24 season.

However, as the 24-year-old forward from Florida enters his sixth season since his one-time stint with the Tar Heel, he’s without an NBA home – at least for now.

The Miami Heat waived Little on Saturday, about a month after he signed a contract through training camp and preseason.

Little played in two preseason games for the Miami Heat. Those performances included his 15 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field, 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 at the line over 32 minutes of play in the team’s 114-109 road win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night.

Several websites now consider Nassir Little to be one of the dozen or so unsigned free agents. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if a franchise added him to their roster at the start of the 2024-25 season, something that will be announced across the league this week.
