Texarkana, Texas uses federal grants to rebuild homes for those who qualify | Community

TEXARKANA, Texas – The City of Texarkana will use a Texas HOME grant to rebuild homes and provide low-income homeowners with adequate, safe, sanitary and affordable housing.

The HOME program will host a two-day information session at the Bowie County Health Center on October 22nd and 23rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m

The sessions are designed to help interested homeowners learn how to qualify and will assist in completing the application.

Eligibility requirements include that the homeowner lives in Texarkana, Texas, owns the home and has a warranty deed in their name, lives in a substandard home, has qualifying household income, has property taxes, and has clear title to the property , can move while the new house is being built and claims the homestead exemption for the property.

The grant also covers Beverly Disaster Response for homes affected by the storm that began April 26.

The application deadline is November 8th and the deadline for submitting additional documents is November 22nd.
