The WVU-Jackson Mill hosts the annual harvest season at the mill

WESTON, W.Va (WDTV) –

The WVU Jackson mill held its annual harvest season on Sunday. Where people have the chance to experience the history of Jackson Mill.

There were also demonstrations of woodworking, blacksmithing and much more.

“We built a store here at Jackson Mill to do demonstrations. Obizinski said. We have a blacksmith here who does demonstrations and talks to people showing them what blacksmithing was like and we also have coal fires, it’s very cool to see it in action.”

There were various food and craft vendors throughout the event for people to try out.

“We have a number of craft vendors specializing in jewelry photography, needle felting and quilting. Obizinski said. All sorts of wonderful things and we also have a bunch of great food vendors out here to give people a reason to come over on a nice fall weekend.”

The goal of this event is to give people the opportunity to see what the Jackson Mill is all about.

“For staffing reasons, we are also unable to open all of these buildings. Obizinski said. This weekend was a wonderful opportunity to get all the volunteers involved to get most of these buildings open. And give people the opportunity to see what we do all year round.”

Next year they look forward to increasing the number of vendors and bringing back all the historical performances.
