49ers sign a safety and kicker to the practice squad and release a wide receiver

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have signed S Adrian Amos and K Anders Carlson to the team’s practice squad. To make room on the practice squad, the team released WR Terrace Marshall Jr.

Amos (6-0, 214) was originally drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft. Over his nine-year career, he appeared in 142 games (125 starts) for the Bears (2015-18), Green Bay Packers (2019-22), New York Jets (2023) and Houston Texans (2023), where he also played made 650 tackles, 49 passes defended, 10 interceptions (one was returned for a touchdown), 6.0 sacks, six fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles. Amos also participated in eight postseason contests, recording 29 tackles, five passes defended and three interceptions. In 2023, Amos recorded 28 tackles, one fumble recovery and one pass defense with the Jets and Texans and also participated in two postseason contests where he totaled one tackle.

MD Amos, a 31-year-old Baltimore native, attended Penn State University (2011-15), where he appeared in 49 games (38 starts) and recorded 133 tackles, 11 passes defensed, seven interceptions and 3.0 sacks.

Carlson (6-5, 219) was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round (207th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie in 2023, he appeared in 17 games, connecting on 27 of his 33 field goal attempts (81.8%) and 34 of his 39 extra point attempts (87.2%). Carlson participated in two postseason contests, making two of his three field goal attempts and seven of his eight extra point attempts.

Carlson, a 26-year-old native of Colorado Springs, CO, attended Auburn University for six years (2017-22), where he appeared in 59 games and made 79 of his 110 field goal attempts (71.8%) and 173 Of those, one hit was scored on 176 extra point attempts (98.3%).

Marshall Jr. (6-2, 200) was originally signed to the team’s practice squad on August 29, 2024.
