On Sunday morning, Henderson, ex-wife of Shaquille and mother of Shareef, shared the exciting news on Instagram about the new chapter in her son’s life as an NBA player.

“I’m so proud of you @shareefoneal I can’t even talk about it without crying. I know this has always been your goal and the odds you have beaten to finally make it happen are beyond amazing,” she wrote in her caption on the Instagram carousel of photos and videos.

“I prayed for this day. I prayed that you would never give up, that you would not become discouraged. I know you’ve had some iffy days, but you’ve pushed through. This is so much bigger than basketball.”

In her caption, she went on to call her son “one of the strongest, bravest and most determined people” she knows and reminded him that “there’s nothing you can’t do.” The proud mom also vows to be Shareef’s “biggest, loudest fan/supporter/cheerleader/prayer warrior.” She ended her caption with a simple yet powerful “Let’s go, kings!”

Before signing with the Kings, Shareef played for NBA G League Ignite, based in Las Vegas, during the 2022-23 season.
