In a surprising blockbuster, the Packers are being asked to trade the Dolphins’ two-time Pro Bowler

The Green Bay Packers will certainly be one of the most intriguing teams to watch at the NFL trade deadline this season.

It’s obvious that the Packers are a playoff-worthy team, but they also looked like the third-best team in their own competitive division. With the Chicago Bears on the rise, they could arguably struggle to avoid finishing at the bottom.

It’s too early to sound the alarm bells, but the Packers would be wise to add some more firepower to their defense before the trade deadline. Green Bay is in the middle of the pack in sacks as a team, and no one on the roster entered Sunday with more than three sacks.

There is a pass rusher who could undoubtedly help the Packers if he’s at his best, but the move would come with serious risk. FanSided’s Nick Villano suggested the Packers could sign injured Miami Dolphins superstar Bradley Chubb in a surprise blockbuster.

“Bradley Chubb once cost the Miami Dolphins a first-round pick, but he’s recovering from a serious knee injury and they’re going nowhere. They already have his replacement in Chop Robinson, and Chubb would be better off rushing the passer to a competitor,” Villano said.

“The Packers are a pretty good fit and Chubb can continue to rehab his torn ACL until he’s ready to go. The Packers need him in the second half of the season and he is on track to be ready then.”

Chubb, 28, has recorded 39.5 sacks in his outstanding six-year career, including 11 last season in Miami. He also led the NFL with six forced fumbles and collected 11 tackles for a loss in 2023. When he’s at his best, he’s a game-wrecker.

However, trading a player coming off a serious injury is always a risk, and it remains to be seen whether Miami is willing to give up its 2024 season. If so, now might be a good time to release Chubb for assets as his contract has the potential to do so at the end of the season.

It’s an unconventional move, but one that could pay off for the Packers team. Signing Chubb is a way for Green Bay to reassert itself as a serious contender in the crowded NFC North.
