JCSU football dodges the bullet ahead of big CIAA road test

Johnson C. Smith (JCSU) remains the only undefeated team in HBCU football after a homecoming scare against CIAA rival Shaw University. Next week, the Golden Bulls hit the road to take on a hostile WSSU team they haven’t beaten since 1976 in Winston-Salem. Shaw took a 7-0 lead over Johnson C. Smith after scoring the first points of the game on the first drive of the game. Johnson C. Smith then scored to take a 21-7 lead before the Bears put a touchdown on the board to cut the lead and make the game 21-14. Shaw had one last chance to tie the game with less than a minute left when the ball was in JCSU territory, but failed on fourth down, ending the threat. Game notes

In the second season, the Golden Bulls are announced as contenders for the CIAA Championship as they continue to make HBCU football history in Charlotte, North Carolina.
