DENTON, Texas. – The University of Memphis volleyball team swept through North Texas on Sunday morning at the UNT Volleyball Center.

The Tigers (10-10, 4-4 AAC) dominated and were led by the Mean Green (8-11, 5-3) in a 3-0 win Hannah Jones with 10 kills. Jasmine Tate, Clara Bednarek, Tiffany Snook, And Tabytha Toelke followed with eight while Jordan Heatherly also recorded six kills.

Memphis took an early 11-3 lead in the opening set. North Texas battled back with a 6-1 run to cut the deficit to two points. The Tigers extended the lead back to four and went up 20-16. The Mean Green made a run late in the set, tying the score at 24. Snook sealed the deal with an ace, giving the Tigers a 26-24 victory.

The Tigers continued their momentum in the second set and took a 12-4 lead. North Texas was unable to recover as Memphis dominated from start to finish. The Tigers secured the second set 25:16.

Memphis took an early lead again, taking an 11-6 lead. The Tigers increased their lead with big kills from Heatherly, Bednarek and Toelke. North Texas attempted a comeback and got within three points. In the end, however, Memphis prevailed with a 25:21 win.

The Tigers will be back on the road next weekend, playing at Wichita State on Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m. and Tulsa on Sunday, October 27 at 1 p.m. Both games can be streamed on ESPN+.
