Bronson First Baptist Church celebrates its groundbreaking

BRONSON, Fla. (WCJB) – A church in Bronson celebrated its rich history and what is to come. It’s a significant moment for the community as First Baptist Church in Bronson celebrated the groundbreaking of its new fellowship hall.

The Bronson First Baptist Church has been part of the area since 1885. Every year, parishioners celebrate the church’s good health and history.

“It’s just a sign of celebrating another year of the church being alive and well in Bronson. It’s just a great celebration,” added Pastor John Coker.

The homecoming event is a treasured tradition, but this year it is extra special. The church has laid the foundation stone for the much-anticipated new community hall. Edwina Coker, who is part of the church, said she was excited about the new fellowship hall.

“We’re terribly excited, as John said, we’ve been waiting for years. We are also pleased that we earned the $700,000 we needed and that we met and exceeded the goal,” said Coker.

The Fellowship Hall has been under negotiation for about 25 years. Pastor John Coker says the fellowship hall will be completed within 10 months.

Coker said the new community hall reflects not only the church’s growth, but also its commitment to serving the community for many years to come.
