A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly stealing and killing his neighbors’ dogs

A man in Texas has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty by adopting pets and then allegedly killing them.

The Bowie County Sheriff’s Office was notified on October 3rd of the disappearance of several dogs from local homes. One of the callers said there was a suspected dog thief living in the area.

As officers searched the Simms area, they went to the house where Stuart Duncan Hammonds and his girlfriend lived. They smelled what appeared to be decaying animals, KSLA reported.

Officers found seven animal carcasses around the house and barn. They found skeletal remains, twelve of which were identified as dogs. Some of these dog skeletons had head injuries, a sign that they may have been shot.

The sheriff’s office said they believe Hammonds killed four of the dogs while he was involved in an argument with his girlfriend, and that a witness confirmed to them that he killed all 12 dogs.
