Should Liverpool win against the Blues, it would be the 3,000th victory in the club’s history, a number that only a few other English clubs have achieved.

Not only could it be Liverpool’s 3,000th win, it could also be their 50th league win at Anfield against Chelsea, with their last win coming in a 4-1 win over the Londoners in January. A goal tomorrow would also be Liverpool’s 250th league goal against their opponents.

Individual historians

It’s not just about the team though, with Ibrahima Konate and Caoimhin Kelleher likely to make important appearances and potentially play their 100th and 50th games for the Reds.

Luis Diaz also has the chance to score in three consecutive league games against Chelsea for the first time in over 30 years, something no Liverpool player has achieved since Ian Rush in October 1990.

Last season, the Reds put in strong performances against Chelsea, notably winning the Carabao Cup final in February with a severely weakened squad. In the league there was the aforementioned 4-1 win at Anfield and the 1-1 draw with which both teams opened the 2023/24 Premier League season.
