Fire Safety at the Open House in Brewster FD

Firefighters built two small homes that were set on fire to demonstrate the importance of installing sprinklers and smoke detectors

BREWSTER Hundreds of local residents spent a fall afternoon at Brewster Fire Department headquarters learning about fire safety at the county’s busiest fire department’s annual open house.

Both children and adults learned fire safety tips from emergency responders at the local, county and state levels. Fire engine rides, bouncy castles, educational exhibitions, a vehicle rescue and burning people alive were the highlights of the afternoon fire safety lesson.

Former BFD Chief and former Emergency Services Commissioner Ken Clair and Department Safety Officer Thomas Lannon gave attendees life-saving tips during their presentations to keep family and friends safe year-round.
