TCU Football will face Utah for the first time since 2010

The TCU Horned Frog faced the Utah Utes for the first time in over a decade.

The last time these teams met, TCU defeated Utah 47-7 behind a great performance from TCU legend Andy Dalton.

Saturday night’s game would make Dalton proud as the Horned Frogs kept their winning streak alive. The Horned Frogs held on with a score of 13-7.

The Frogs led the game from start to finish as Josh Hoover had 263 passing yards with a rushing touchdown. It was a good comeback game for him as he struggled against the Houston Cougars. His favorite target was JP Richardson, who caught three passes for 53 yards.

The TCU rushing game went for 132 yards with an average of 4 yards per carry. The two leading rushers were Savion Williams and Trent Battle, as the two provided the spark for something that has struggled to get off the ground this year.

Used on trick plays under center, Williams did well to shut down the Utah defense, running for 72 yards, with his longest rush being 30 yards. He also made a crucial four-and-one before the two-minute warning that put the game on ice for TCU.

TCU made some early mistakes as they had two trips inside the ten yard line, but a blocked field goal and a fumble by Josh Hoover resulted in the Frogs ending up with zero points on those drives.

TCU’s defense was the story of the game. They played their best game of the year as they held Utah to seven points and 267 yards of total offense. They made life difficult for true freshman quarterback Isaac Wilson, sacking him four times, holding him to 199 yards, and picking him off.

The offense struggled to get much going in the second half and was only able to score a total of three points. The defense answered the call by executing play after play.

They had two great plays late in the game as Utah had two opportunities on fourth down. The defense held strong as Bud Clark intercepted one of the passes while the other was a turnover on downs.

TCU now looks to build on that performance when it takes on Texas Tech on Oct. 26 at Amon G. Carter Stadium.
