Boy shot dead at house party in East Las Vegas | Shootings

A boy was shot at a house party in the east Las Vegas Valley, police said.

At about 12:07 a.m. Saturday, the Metropolitan Police Department said it responded to “reports of a disruptive house party” at a home in the 3800 block of Idlewood Avenue.

Shortly afterward, Metro said in a news release, police received additional information about gunshots being heard in the area. Officers then located a boy – his age was not mentioned in the news release – with an apparent gunshot wound near a home. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

During the investigation, homicide detectives determined that a vehicle containing people who also attended the party opened fire on the victim as he walked away, police said. They added that the vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived and the investigation was ongoing.

The victim’s identity and cause and manner of death will be announced by the Clark County coroner’s office, police said.
