WACO – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team won doubles at the ITA Texas Regional at the Hurd Tennis Center on Saturday.

The No. 1 seed duo from Togan Tokac And Giulio Perego had a clear win over Rafael Candelas Ruiz/Alexandre Chauvel Gobin of Incarnate Word 8-0. Luke Casper And Tiago Pires advanced to 8-4 after a win over Guy Dagan/Haruki Omori-Cowie of Lamar. The couple Matthias Ross And Grant Lothringer advanced with a victory over Daniel Linkuns-Morozovs/Ethan Scribner of Abilene Christian, 8-5. The number 7 seeded duo JC Roddick And Ritesh Patil won over Andres Medus/Meethre Barot from UTA with 8:5.

In singles play, Roddick advanced after defeating A&M-Corpus Christi’s Nicolas Trebuchet 6-0, 6-2. Pires earned a three-set victory over Sebastian Abboud of Texas Tech, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. The No. 8 seed Tokac picked up the win over Evan Burnett of Texas 6-4, 6-4. Perego also continued due to an injury break.

Casper fell to Piotr Pawlak of Texas Tech 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Patil lost to No. 5 seed Devin Badenhorst of Baylor 6-3, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3.

The singles match continued on Saturday evening with the round of 16. Roddick reached the quarterfinals after defeating Tiago Torres of UTSA 6-3, 6-3. The No. 6 seed Perego secured a spot in the quarterfinals after defeating Baylor’s Luc Koenig 7-5, 7-5.

Pires lost to No. 5 seed Devin Badenhorst of Baylor 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3. Tokac lost to Marko Miladinovic of Baylor 6-3, 6-4.

In the consolation round, Ross advanced after defeating Santiago Navarro of Rice 7:6 (4), 6:2. Lothringer lost to Filip Apltauer from TCU 6:4, 6:2. Junior Ethan Silva fought hard but fell to Maks Silagy of SMU 6-4, 4-6, 10-6.

Ross defeated Imran Daniel Abdul Hazil of Baylor 7-5, 7-5 to advance to the consolation quarterfinals.

Play continues tomorrow, October 20, with the singles quarterfinals and doubles round of 16. The consolation quarterfinals also take place on Sunday.
