It was quite a turnaround for Allmendinger, who entered the Round of 8 in seventh place overall, 18 points below the cutline. Allmendinger became the 17th different winner this season.

While Allmendinger celebrated his first win of the season and the 18th of his career, Sieg continues to search for his first series win after 364 series starts.

“It’s a shame to come second,” said Sieg afterwards in the pit lane. “It’s great, but one day it will work out. Hard.”

Justin Allgaier was third, Chandler Smith was fourth and Parker Kligerman rounded out the top five.
