The headliner of the 2024 fall anime season, Dan Da Danproduced by Studio Science SARU, is a paranormal and supernatural series based on the manga written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. It follows Momo and Okarun as they are one day thrown into the world of aliens and ghosts. Momo gains psychic powers and Okarun is cursed and possessed by Turbo Granny, and the two work together to lift Okarun’s curse.

Dan Da Dan Episode #4 is scheduled to be released on October 24, 2024 at 12:26 a.m. Japan Standard Time (JST). International viewers can watch the episode here 9:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, 11:00 p.m. Central Standard Time and 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The episode will be available to stream Crunchyroll, Netflix and Hulu.

For fans of the dubbed version of the anime: Dan Da Dan will premiere on the same day and time as subtitles for all episodes. In addition to Japanese and English dubs, the episodes are also available in German and French.

What happened in Dan Da Dan Episode #3?

A new character appears and a declaration of battle is made

The episode begins with an exorcist appearing on television, but his assumptions are inaccurate. They take a taxi home, get off near their destination and walk the rest of the way. When Turbo Granny is about to attack Momo, the exorcist steps in and burns the curse to protect the young girl. This spirit medium turns out to be none other than Momo’s grandmother Seiko, and she manages to overpower Turbo Granny and bring Okarun back under control, despite him being trapped in a room that suppresses his curse.

After Momo wakes up, she and Seiko discuss the new situation and Momo reaffirms her commitment to helping Okarun. Seeing her granddaughter’s determination, she explains to her and Okarun that they can exorcise Turbo Granny if they lure her out of her fortress, where she is virtually invincible, and take her somewhere else where she has no home advantage. To achieve this, the two must train: Okarun must improve his endurance and physicality and Momo must unlock the full potential of her psychic powers.

During a training session, Okarun has to go to the bathroom and Momo accompanies him to further suppress Turbo Granny. While he is using the toilet, the curse appears and warns Momo that she will curse anyone she sees using Okarun’s body to death, and if she doesn’t come to the tunnel tonight, she will start a murder spree, including Seiko . Angered by Turbo Granny’s threat that she would hurt her loved ones, Momo heads to the tunnel to take her in, and Okarun also accompanies her.

Episode #3 has already cemented Seiko as a fan favorite

There’s more to come from the 80-year-old grandmother

In addition to a visually striking character design, the anime highlighted Seiko’s charming personality and made her much more likeable. Her appearance was long awaited and the way she cockily stopped and destroyed Turbo Granny was nothing short of spectacular. Her moment with Momo before she sets off for the tunnel also characterizes her even more than the energetic grandmother the audience thought she was. Overall, Episode #3 is true to the look and feel of the beloved character, and there’s more to come from Seiko.

What will happen in Dan Da Dan Episode #4?

Although it happens much sooner than expected, a fight with Turbo Granny will ensue as the two head to the tunnel to take her down before she starts killing people. Fans can look forward to another action-packed episode that will hopefully be as good or even better than episode #1. This one will definitely be more exciting as fans will see an angry Momo with psychic abilities fighting in an impossible battle. As beautifully animated as the anime has been so far, Episode #4 might be the best one yet.

Dan Da Dan plunges back into action after a relatively quiet episode in which he introduces an important character and lays the foundation for Momo’s eventual rise to power. Turbo Granny is already an interesting antagonist whose full capabilities are unknown, so the next episode will bring out all the weapons for the villain, making it an episode worth looking out for.
