“What the fuck”… Conor McGregor mocks Johnny Eblen over his wrestling-heavy performance in boring Fabian Edwards rematch

Conor McGregor was not happy with Johnny Eblen’s performance in his last title defense.

The Bellator middleweight champion used his elite grappling skills against Fabian Edwards to earn a unanimous decision victory (48-47, 48-47, 48-47) at PFL Super Fights: Battle of the Giants in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night .

Conor McGregor is not a fan of Johnny Eblen’s fighting style.

Midway through the contest, McGregor took to

“Bare knuckle is in,” the UFC superstar tweeted. “The future! And the future is now.”

“There is no feeling at all that an event is dragging out, which is so common in today’s MMA. More intense. Deadlier. More blood. No room to stall or avoid collisions/impacts. It’s about sinking or swimming with your bare knuckles. Nowhere to hide. The nastiest, craziest, wildest sport on the market today.”

McGregor then made a video in which he sat in front of the television and watched Eblen vs. Edwards 2.

The Irishman added a sarcastic comment jokingly wondering about Eblen’s ability to hold on to his rival.

“Wow! Oh my God! NO! What the fuck? Wow! Oh my God, no way, that can’t be happening now,” McGregor said with a laugh.

“Oh my God, he’s got it, he’s holding it, guys! How does he do that? Oh my God! This guy. Damned!”

When the fight was over, McGregor came back and claimed that stalling wrestlers were killing MMA.

He wrote: “Pretend you’re not fed up and want whatever you want from this bull*** but I won’t do it.”

“It’s just become the norm these days. The product suffers from this. If it weren’t for the already established brand name, it would have ended up in the bin long ago. It’s in the trash can in the…”

McGregor added: “Resist the urge to connect with the body and hold it. Practice framing the body. Keep your distance to land good punches. Connecting with the body means holding and stalling. Check me and cowboy. I compartmentalized the body, only I never connected with it. If that’s someone else they’re hugging…”

Johnny Eblen is now 2-0 in a duel with Fabian Edwards

In their first fight, Edwards had his moments in the fight and even opened a nasty cut that forced Eblen to push for the finish as the American knew he could be pulled out by the doctor at any moment.

Eblen dropped Edwards in the third round and swarmed to score a vicious knockout finish.

On Saturday night, Eblen went in search of high headbutts and even managed to keep his rival off balance early in the first round before entering the wrestling game that has made him one of the most dominant champions in the PFL/Bellator squad made.

It was a strong first five minutes that suggested he would win 2-0 against The Assassin.

Edwards landed a nice counterpunch early in the second stanza, but he was made to pay when Eblen immediately took him down.

The challenger struggled to get back on his feet and looked like he was in for a massive uphill battle to secure a victory over Eblen in his second title attempt.

The first half of the third frame was fought on the feet, but Edwards was unable to mount an attack before being knocked to the ground midway through.

However, he managed to get back to his feet, stay there and hit the ball with a few shots to make it clear to the champion that he was still fully in the fight.

Edwards had occasional success with pop punches, but never managed to land more than one or two before ending up back on the ground.

After four rounds he almost certainly needed a knockout in the final five minutes, but his UFC star brother Leon Edwards showed it was possible when he stopped Kamaru Usman in similar circumstances two years ago.

To his regret, that didn’t happen and he ended up suffering a narrow but clear decision defeat.
