Leaked documents show US intelligence on possible Israeli attack on Iran: report

The United States is increasingly concerned after top-secret documents showing Israel’s plans for a possible retaliatory strike against Iran were leaked to an Iranian Telegram account on Friday.

The documents, marked with markings indicating they are only viewable by the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, describe Israeli munitions transport and Israeli air force exercises with air-to-surface missiles, apparently in Preparing for it According to a CNN report, it is an attack on Iran.

The documents are dated October 15 and 16 and were shared with a Telegram account called the Middle East Spectator. One document says it was compiled by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, while another is from the National Security Agency.

A US official told CNN the leak was “deeply concerning.”

The leak comes as Israel weighs a response to rocket fire fired by Iran on October 1. Further escalating tensions in the region, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to have avoided an assassination attempt after his Caesarea residence was hit by a drone fired from Lebanon early Saturday. Netanyahu and his wife were not home at the time and no injuries were reported.

It is not clear whether the documents were intentionally leaked or whether they were hacked.
