The video shows Yahya Sinwar fleeing into the tunnel before October 7th

Yahya Sinwar and his family fled into a tunnel just hours before the Oct. 7 massacre, a video released by the IDF on Saturday shows.

The footage shows the 61-year-old Hamas boss and his wife leading their two small sons through the narrow bunker corridor – with a time stamp of October 6, 2023, 10:45 p.m.

The four seemed to be settling in for the long haul – all four were carrying backpacks and luggage as they entered the chambers.

Sinwar – the mastermind of the October 7 attacks – made several more trips through the tunnel to retrieve additional belongings, packages of water bottles and pillows.

The older of the two sons eventually joined his father to carry blankets into the hideout – which, according to IDF images, was equipped with a television, floor and wall fans, beds and a tiled floor.

The Jewish state’s military said the footage was found several months ago by IDF and ISA troops.

The IDF had been hunting Sinwar since he reported on the terrorist organization’s deadly attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

They finally took out the leader on Wednesday in a chance encounter – soldiers discovered his body while searching the rubble after an airstrike in Tel al-Sultan.

Drone footage of the attack showed a man, later identified as Sinwar, sitting on a couch in an above-ground building, covering his face with a cloth and carrying what appeared to be an injured arm.

He is seen weakly throwing a piece of wood at the drone in a last-ditch attempt to knock it down – just before the building is blown up.

The soldiers found 40,000 shekels ($10,000) and an ID card of a teacher from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Relief (UNRWA) on Sinwar’s body. They also discovered a weapons cache inside the building.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised the killing would mark a turning point in the years-long war between Israel and Hamas, although a senior Hamas official said the group would only grow stronger after its loss.
