For one thing, the £8million player who left Nottingham Forest in the summer is now the best in the world

Nottingham Forest have impressed in the first seven games of the Premier League season and return to the game in tenth placeTh position.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side enjoyed some truly impressive results with an away win at Liverpool and draws at Brighton and Chelsea.

Forest were one of the busiest sides in the Premier League during the summer transfer window, with Evangelos Marinakis giving Forest his full support.

And the early stages of the 2024/25 season have seen some truly impressive performances.

Chris Wood has delighted pundit Tony Cascarino, who described the striker as one of the best in the Premier League.

However, there is one player who left the City Ground at the end of last season that is truly impressive at his new club.

After his loan spell ended, Nuno Tavares returned to Arsenal after spending the 2023/24 season at Forest.

It wasn’t exactly a memorable loan spell for Tavares, considering he only played 12 games in all competitions, equating to just 665 minutes of playing time.

But he has now left north London again, where he now plays his football in Serie A with Lazio.

According to CIES Football, the £8m-rated Tavares is currently delivering more successful attacks than any other full-back in world football.

The Portuguese left-back now plays regularly for Lazio and has already made five appearances in Serie A.

And the 24-year-old was able to produce a sensational performance of five assists in his first five appearances in the top Italian league.

In his debut for the Rome-based team, Tavares put in an impressive performance of two assists away at AC Milan.

Ola Aina and Alex Moreno were solid replacements for Nuno Tavares

Despite Tavares proving his quality in Italy, Forest fans were taken aback by Ola Aina, who started at left-back and right-back at times.

The Nigerian international has already appeared seven times in the Premier League this season and has started every league game.

However, Aina was unable to offer Forest the same attacking threat that Tavares offered Lazio.

With players like Roma showing interest, Forest have pressed ahead with contract negotiations with Aina to secure his future at the City Ground.

He wasn’t the only option at left-back either, as Nuno Espirito Santo switched to Alex Moreno, which meant Aina operated largely on the right.
