Tonight in Saudi Arabia, Francis Ngannou returns to the MMA cage after a 1,000-day layoff to defend his lineal title.

The hard-hitting Cameroonian never lost his UFC title in the octagon and was stripped of it when he left to pursue a boxing career and bigger payouts. He famously beat Tyson Fury in his first ring attempt en route to a split decision defeat before being defeated by Anthony Joshua in March.

He faces a tough test in PFL 2023 Global Season Champion Renan Ferreira, a gigantic 6’3″ knockout artist. The pair weighed just a few pounds apart but appeared to be in different weight classes as they competed at the ceremonial weigh-in yesterday, where they had to be restrained by security guards.

It’s a night of world title action as the co-main event sees MMA icon Cris Cyborg take on two-weight PFL champion Larissa Pacheco for the Super Fights title. The Brazilian duo are among the most powerful women in the sport, with Cyborg looking to win another belt in a major organization.

Then there’s Bellator title fight, as middleweight contender Fabian Edwards looks to break champion Johnny Eblen’s undefeated record. The pair have fought before, with Eblen knocking out the Brit in Dublin last year.

Makkasharip Zaynukov beats Dedrek Sanders by UD

Another decision about this card: Two of the three go the distance!

Now it’s Makkasharip Zaynukov and Dedrek Sanders

The early map is progressing well, its pace has improved significantly compared to previous PFL events. However, there are now only four fights left on this card before the main card begins in an hour.

Ibragim Ibragimov beats Nacho Campos by UD

This is difficult to watch as the Brit remains unbeaten and takes the zero from his Spanish rival. The Dagestani style of pressure has been a major topic of conversation in recent weeks and is painfully difficult to watch.

Next up is Ibragim Ibragimov vs. Nacho Campos

The unbeaten Dagestani-born Brit trains with Khabib Nurmagomedov and likes his chances of becoming the region’s next star. But he could end up being the least famous athlete in his family, while his brothers are all on the books at Manchester United.

He will face Spaniard Nacho Campos, who is himself unbeaten with a 5-0 record. Expect a war between these two.
