Waterbury, CT cyclist dies after hit-and-run, arrest made

WATERBURY – In the early morning hours of Sept. 25, Waterbury police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident at Cooke Street and Grove Street, where 37-year-old Luis Caceras was found critically injured.

Caceras, a Waterbury resident, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, Caceras died on October 2nd as a result of the accident.

The Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) began an intensive investigation into the incident.

Their efforts led to the successful identification of the suspect, 32-year-old Glory Sanchez, also of Waterbury.

Law enforcement obtained an arrest warrant for Sanchez, who was arrested on October 17.

Sánchez faces multiple charges, including evasion of responsibility resulting in death, criminal misrepresentation and failure to renew vehicle registration.

Sanchez is currently being held on a $150,000 bond.
