Longtime LSU football staff member has died

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Members of the LSU football community are mourning the loss of a longtime employee.

According to the university, Charles Baglio passed away on Friday evening, October 18th.

Baglio spent 20 years at LSU as football director of external relations, serving in three national championships, four SEC titles and serving as three football head coaches.

Before joining the LSU football team, Baglio also had a 34-year coaching career at Independence High School. During this time he was head coach for more than 20 years.

According to LSU, Baglio is one of the 50 winningest coaches in Louisiana high school football history. He achieved 205 wins and was also inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.

Baglio was 81 years old.

Funeral arrangements are still pending.
