Boss joins workplace video call – unprepared for employee’s activities

An impromptu karaoke performance during a work meeting has sent the internet into a frenzy after social media manager McKenzie Price from Oslo, Norway, was caught mid-singing by her boss.

The 30-year-old was belting out Celine Dion’s iconic song “My Heart Will Go On” when her boss joined the call, making everyone laugh.

Price had just received a karaoke microphone as a birthday present and showed it to her colleagues during a light-hearted team meeting.

“We’re all very close, so it’s not unusual for me,” Price said Newsweek. “I had just started singing when my boss came over. His timing was impeccable.”

Instead of making the situation awkward, Price’s boss seized on the funny moment and jokingly called her a “pop star.” She added: “He’s a supportive guy so I think he found it as funny as we did. The look on his face when he joined the call was priceless.”

A recent video on TikTok was viewed 1.1 million times and sparked lots of reactions from people who found it hilarious.

The moment the 30-year-old social media manager gifted her team a song during the video call. Your boss was obviously surprised.

Another TikToker, @cait7667, commented: “Don’t your colleagues know they are blessed??”

Commenter @mosca said: “If I were your boss I would DEMAND the show from the start.”

“Do you do weddings?” asked viewer @catchlifts.withjos. “Asking for a friend.”

The casual exchange highlights the strong bond between Price and her team, which many remote workers find difficult to maintain. A survey of 3,000 remote workers conducted by HowNow in 2021 found that over two-thirds of remote workers (67 percent) felt disconnected from their colleagues, while 42 percent said they felt lonely at work.

However, not everyone finds remote work an obstacle. A YouGov survey commissioned by Miro in 2021 found that 32 percent of workers reported an improvement in their relationship with their manager since working from home, while 21 percent said their relationships with colleagues had strengthened across teams would have.

More and more companies are returning to pure office work. A A survey of 700 companies by international executive search firm Robert Walters found that two-thirds of professional companies in America will stop offering fully remote work in job advertisements.

Still, there are plenty of hilarious video call moments every day, from a puppy’s hilarious behavior during his grandma’s work call to a cat dragging in a live pigeon while its owner was working.
