North Texas is enjoying a cool start and a beautiful fall day lies ahead

Saturday morning started off a bit chilly across North Texas, with daytime highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Temperatures typically hover around 77 degrees in mid-October, but North Texas will experience warmer-than-average conditions next week. A ridge of high pressure will dominate the area, bringing dry conditions and rising temperatures.

Unfortunately, the ridge of high pressure will continue the region’s rain-free period. It has been 24 days since DFW recorded measurable precipitation and the dry trend is expected to continue over the next few days.

With the grass extremely dry and no rain in sight, the risk of grass fires and wildfires remains high. Any flame that produces sparks could spread quickly under these conditions. Please be alert and avoid activities that could start a fire.
