… and with that today’s watch comes to a quiet end. Time to head over to MBM where Rob Smyth takes you through all the action at Dean Court as Bournemouth take on an Arsenal side without Bukayo Saya but now boasting Mikel Merino. Thanks for reading!

Match report: Celtic 2-2 Aberdeen. “At half-time it felt like a breach of the Trades Descriptions Act that this game was being advertised as a top-class game,” begins Ewan Murray in Parkhead. “What happened next was due in large part to Celtic’s defensive weakness and Aberdeen’s refusal to give in.”

Match report: Southampton 2-3 Leicester City. Here’s how the Foxes stunned Southampton with a dramatic comeback at St Mary’s.

Match report: Ipswich Town 0-2 Everton. “It was a hard lesson that the right approach doesn’t always get the right result,” notes John Brewin of Portman Road.

Match report: Newcastle United 0-1 Brighton & Hove Albion. “A PhD student could certainly have used those 102 minutes on Tyneside as the basis for a thesis on the vagaries of the game’s fluctuating fortunes,” suggests St James’ Park’s Louise Taylor.

Match report: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford. “Rasmus Højlund’s winning goal was a strike of proven skill and will put Erik ten Hag in a calmer mood,” begins Jamie Jackson, reporting from Old Trafford.

Back to the championship. None of the drama that the Premier League or Scottish Premiership offer, but here’s the table for Clockwatch completists worldwide nonetheless.

… the aforementioned love between Simon McMahon and James Humphries. And a day full of contrasts for our Dundee United and Motherwell support heroes north of the border.

SIMON: I’m sure James is a nice guy, but I’m sorry, the 1991 Scottish Cup final is still too rough.

JAMES: Apologies to McMahon; ended 0-1 against Dundee. I can only conclude that the referee had his heart broken by a Motherwell girl, but still we could have played all bloody day and not scored. Jesus, it’s time for a pint.

SIMON: Oh my days! 3-2 United, 90+3 and 90+8. Football, uh, damn it.

Scottish Premiership table. For a while it seemed as if Celtic had put 1985 leaders Aberdeen in their place. But then came the second half, and now look! Meanwhile, Hearts ended up overtaking their city rivals Hibs, who capitulated late on at Tannadice. Speaking of…

Premier League table. Aston Villa’s win at Fulham puts them level on points with Manchester City and Arsenal. Brighton also moved up after their win at Newcastle, although the win was marred by Danny Welbeck’s back injury. Manchester United move back into the top half with another come-from-behind win against Brentford. And it’s good news for bottom-placed Leicester and Everton, but utter sickening news for Southampton, who gave up a two-goal lead at home and suffered their seventh defeat of eight. They now support the entire division and their manager Russell Martin is handed over the crisis management team by a relieved Erik ten Hag.

COMPLETE: Ipswich 0-2 Everton

A piece of cake for the in-form Everton, who are slowly freeing themselves from the relegation battle. Ipswich’s promising start to the Premier League season has stalled, with a heavy defeat at West Ham followed by this no-show.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership… well then… With five minutes to play, Dundee United were 2-1 down at home to Hibernian. Then Hibees captain Joe Newell was sent off and received a second yellow card. Keyword: surrender. Luca Stephenson forced the equalizer after three minutes of added time, and in the ninth minute of added time Meshack Obuchioma completed the comeback of all comebacks on a day full of comebacks. The game ends 3-2 for the Tangerines and we expect to hear from Simon McMahon soon, assuming someone can scratch him off the ceiling.

FULL: Celtic 2-2 Aberdeen

No! Then the whistle blows and it’s honor, even in the top duel in Scotland! Both teams lose their 100 percent record, but the Dons will be happier.

Celtic 2-2 Aberdeen. Some late drama in the tenth minute of stoppage time! Slobodan Rubezic fouls Luke McCowan just inches outside the Aberdeen penalty area, but it’s only a free kick. This is deflected over the crossbar and Duk blocks the resulting corner on the line. Penalty?

FULL TIME: Fulham 1-3 Aston Villa

It was a day full of comebacks in the Premier League. Villa responded brilliantly to falling behind early on and Unai Emery’s side are right in the title mix!

FULL TIME: Newcastle 0-1 Brighton

Newcastle had their chances but Danny Welbeck took his. At this point we would like to send our best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery to the striker who later suffered an injury.

FULL: Manchester United 2-1 Brentford

Another comeback win and this one provides some much-needed support to the under-fire Erik ten Hag!

COMPLETE: Southampton 2-3 Leicester

Does this feel worse than the infamous 0-9? Possibly based on the boos around St. Mary’s. Russell Martin goes to the referee and tells him what he should decide. Signs of Graham Taylor’s broadside against the UEFA official during England’s USA 1994 qualifying defeat in the Netherlands?

GOAL! Southampton 2-3 Leicester (Ayew 90+8)

The Saints concede another last-minute goal at St. Mary’s! Jordan Ayew deflects a corner to complete Leicester’s turnaround and there are boos from the home team. Russell Martin’s time may be running out, as is the patience of Southampton fans.

RED CARD: Philogene (Aston Villa)

Two yellow cards for Jaden Philogene, the second soft card for a slight push.

Southampton 2-2 Leicester. Facundo Buonanotte is The close to completing the turnaround for the Foxes against the ten-man Saints. His curler whistles past the post.

Ipswich 0-2 Everton. Ipswich does absolutely nothing on Portman Road. No shots on target, and Everton are perfectly content to secure this six-point relegation goal. Everton, who have moved to seven points from their last nine and are unbeaten since opening a two-goal lead at Aston Villa in mid-September, are unlikely to be in the relegation zone for much longer.

Newcastle 0-1 Brighton. According to Sky, Danny Welbeck was accidentally hit in the back with his knee by Fabian Schär. He was given gas before being taken straight into an ambulance.

Manchester United 2-1 Brentford. United remain in control at Old Trafford. Brentford doesn’t offer much.

Newcastle 0-1 Brighton. Worrying news at St James’ Park where goalscorer Danny Welbeck is being transported with a back injury. A seven minute break. Thank God.
