NBA fans react to Josh Giddey contract rumor

Josh Giddey is one of the best young guards in the NBA.

He is coming off a year in which he averaged 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 47.5% in 80 games for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In the offseason, Giddey was traded to the Chicago Bulls act for Alex Caruso.

The 21-year-old still has one year left Contract before entering restricted free agency next summer.

Accordingly Jake Fischer of The People’s InsiderGiddey is hoping for big money on his next deal.

About Fischer’s post: “Josh Giddey is reportedly seeking at least $30 million in AAV in his next deal, sources said.”

Many NBA fans reacted to the report (h/t NBACentral).

@beyondthenumbrs: “Sorry buddy. It’s called RFA. We’ll see what offers you get and then get in touch with us 😂”

@MafiaMorant: “This new generation of gamers simply demands money without even proving their worth.”

@CelticsAdam34: “The Caruso trade is looking worse by the day lmao”

@BullsSource: “Let Josh Giddey walk if he demands it.”

Nobody on the market will pay him that amount anyway.”

Erik Slater: “NBA fans have to get used to paying so much for players they don’t think are stars.”

The salary cap is expected to rise to over $200 million by 2028-29. A $30 million salary will be under 15% of the cap through the end of these extensions.

These are role player numbers at a high level.”

Giddey was the sixth pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

He is entering his fourth NBA season.
