No. 19 Missouri QB Brady Cook left the game against Auburn in the first quarter due to an ankle injury

Missouri quarterback Brady Cook left Saturday’s game against Auburn on the first drive with a non-contact injury.

Cook ran backwards to escape pressure on a second-down play and fell to the ground as the rushers approached. He immediately got up and hobbled off the field before heading to the locker room a play later.

In this clip from the end zone, you can see Cook just falling to the ground with no one around him.

Early in the drive, Cook grimaced after being tackled on the ankles during a quarterback run. According to a report from the ESPN broadcast, Cook suffered an ankle injury and was expected to return to the game.

After leaving the game, Cook was replaced by former Arizona State and Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne.

The No. 19 Tigers are 5-1 and still have College Football Playoff hopes after a blowout loss to Texas A&M in Week 6. Cook’s jump into 2023 was a big reason Missouri went 11-2 going into the 2024 season and is a playoff contender.

A season ago, Cook completed 244 of 369 passes for 3,317 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had eight rushing touchdowns. His numbers have dropped in 2024 as Missouri’s deep passing game hasn’t worked as well as it did a year ago. Entering the game against Auburn, Cook completed 119 of 184 passes for 1,351 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.
