Afghan police arrest 20 drug smugglers and 26 crime suspects

Kabul, October 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) Afghan police have arrested 20 drug smugglers and 26 criminals across the country, the Interior Ministry said on Saturday.

Police conducted operations on the outskirts of Kabul city and in Paghman district west of Kabul, arresting 20 drug smugglers and discovering methamphetamine, opium and hashish, the ministry said in a statement.




The ministry also said police arrested 26 people in Samangan, Nimroz, Bamiyan, Ghazni, Jawzjan, Herat and Balkh provinces for involvement in criminal activities, including murder and theft, Xinhua news agency reported.

On October 14, Afghan counternarcotics police destroyed three drug processing laboratories and arrested 38 suspects for involvement in the drug trade in six of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.

Police conducted operations on the outskirts of the provincial capital Firoz Koah City and in Dawlat Yar district of western Ghor province, discovering and destroying three drug laboratories.

Afghan authorities have stepped up their crackdown on illegal drugs and related crimes. According to the ministry, security forces recently arrested 38 suspected drug smugglers in Kabul, Parwan, Khost, Nimroz and Paktika provinces.

The Afghan interim government has promised to take action against criminal elements to ensure law and order in the country.
