Authorities have charged a Massachusetts man in the fatal shooting of a New Hampshire man in Waterbury earlier this week.

Vermont State Police arrested Fabrice Rumama, 20, of Springfield, Massachusetts, early Saturday morning, the agency said in a news release. He is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Shawn Spiker, 34, of Croydon, NH

The incident occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 14, at Kneeland Flats Trailer Park in Waterbury, police previously said. Two men were shot in a trailer: Spiker, who died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, and Michael S. Perry, 57, of Waterbury, who was injured.

As of Tuesday, Perry was in stable condition at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

At the time of the shooting, police said it was an “isolated, targeted incident.” At a news conference Monday at state police headquarters in Waterbury, Maj. Dan Trudeau, chief of the agency’s criminal division, said he believed the two victims were acquaintances and that other people were present at the scene.

According to Saturday morning’s news release, Rumama has been charged with Spiker’s killing, but no one has been charged with Perry’s shooting. State police said the investigation is ongoing.

Ruamama was held without bail and was expected to be arraigned in Barre on Monday afternoon.
