NFL Injury Tracker Week 7: Jonathan Taylor is out again, Marvin Harrison Jr. is still in the concussion protocol, Malik Nabers is exempt

The severe ankle sprain affecting Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor will keep him out of the lineup in Week 7.

Taylor hasn’t played since Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and has not yet returned to the practice field.

“When they said high ankles, I knew high ankles usually last four to six (weeks), but you know, I, as I was attacking different rehabs and injuries, I thought, ‘There’s no way ‘” Taylor said Thursday. “I just have to do everything I can to continue to reduce this every day.”

Meanwhile, quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) will start after missing the last two games.

The Cardinals’ Harrison Jr. remains in the concussion protocol

Marvin Harrison Jr. was upgraded from restricted to full practice participant on Friday, but the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver is still in the concussion protocol. Arizona faces the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night.

Harrison suffered a concussion in Week 6 and wore a non-contact jersey in practice. Head coach Jonathan Gannon said it was “really encouraging” to see the rookie back on the field.

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray targeted Harrison with a pass over the middle in the second quarter of their 34-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander broke up the pass and threw Harrison to the turf. As Harrison fell, the crown of his helmet hit linebacker Isaiah McDuffie in the thigh, causing his head to snap back.

Harrison stood up after the hit, visibly dazed. He immediately fell back onto the grass.

He went to the medical tent on the sideline and then went to the locker room with athletic trainers. The Cardinals announced before halftime that he was being diagnosed with a concussion and ruled him out before the start of the third quarter.

Nabers was able to return for the Giants

The New York Giants welcomed wide receiver Malik Nabers back to practice on Thursday. The rookie was a full participant and subsequently visited an independent neurological consultant who cleared him from the concussion protocol.

Nabers suffered a concussion during the Giants’ Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He has missed the last two games but is expected to return for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Browns’ Stefanski “expects” Chubb to play Week 7

Nick Chubb is listed as questionable for the Cleveland Browns’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said he expects the running back to play.

Chubb hasn’t played since September 2023 when he suffered a serious knee injury. He underwent medial capsule, meniscus and MCL surgery, and two months later, in November, doctors went in to repair his anterior cruciate ligament. He has been practicing for the last three weeks.

Stefanski said the team has a plan for how it will use Chubb in his first game back.

“I’m ready to go out there with my team and do whatever I can,” Chubb said Wednesday. “I feel good.”

Running back Jerome Ford will miss the Bengals game with a hamstring injury.
