Watch SpaceX’s Starship Crash During Epic Nighttime Water Splash Test Flight (Video)

SpaceX has given us another perspective on the epic fifth test flight of its Starship mega rocket.

The company made history on that mission on Oct. 13 when it captured Starship’s first stage Super Heavy booster using the launch tower’s “rod” arms about seven minutes after liftoff.

But Starship’s 50-meter-high upper stage – known as Starship or simply Ship – has also completed its return to Earth. As a newly released video from SpaceX shows, it landed precisely on the other side of the world from its launch site in South Texas.

“The spacecraft tilts and burns during its fifth flight test. Vehicle improvements ensured the flaps were protected from excessive heating, resulting in controlled entry and high-precision splashdown to the target area in the Indian Ocean,” SpaceX wrote in a Friday (Oct.) statement. 18) Post on X who shared the 21 second video.
