For most of his career, Russell Crowe has played some variation of the leading man. However, as lead actors get older, they often move into different roles, and these roles often give them the opportunity to demonstrate skills that they were not able to demonstrate during their time as lead actors.

That’s exactly the case here with Crowe, as he plays a villain who lives up to the name of the film he’s in. Crowe presents a real threat here that isn’t part of his normal work, and by the end of the film it’s easy to forget that we chose this guy gladiator.

Confused has many obvious similarities with duelone of Steven Spielberg’s very first films. The film tells the story of a man who accidentally makes a truck driver very angry and is then chased across the country by the same truck. The difference to duel is that we never see the other driver.

While Confused Despite lacking the technical wizardry that a young Spielberg was able to bring to the project, both films are worth seeing, if only to remember how the legacy of older films is passed on to newer titles.
