Watch: Neeraj Chopra pranks his farewell coach while trending virally on Instagram

Neeraj Chopra seems to be making the most of his time away from javelin. The top athlete shared a special video on his Instagram in which his trainer and physiotherapist can be seen. The trio created their own version of the viral “give me my money” trend. The viral TikTok prank, “Just give me my money,” involves two or more people standing in a circle or in a line. One by one, they sing “Just Give Me My Money,” often with funny voices and dramatic flair. Each explanation elicits enthusiastic applause from the other participants. But when the person not in on the joke jumps in with their version of the line – which almost always happens last – they are met with an awkward silence.

Here Neeraj started by saying “Give me my money” and everyone clapped followed by his physiotherapist. When the coach repeated the phrase, no one clapped, which confused him as Neeraj and his physiotherapist laughed a lot.

However, the partnership between Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and his long-time coach Klaus Bartonietz from Germany is extremely successful should end after five years of collaboration. Bartonietz, 75, has cited his age and family commitments in parting ways with Chopra.

“He (Bartonietz) is 75 and now wants to be with his family and also not travel too much,” an Athletics Federation of India (AFI) official told PTI.
“It’s not that Neeraj wants to quit the club, it’s Bartonietz who has expressed his inability to continue as his (Neeraj’s) coach,” he added.

Chopra, 26, has been working with Bartonietz, who is a biomechanics expert but also served as Chopra’s trainer, since 2019.

The German initially came on board as a biomechanics expert and took over Chopra’s coaching position after Uwe Hohn fell out with the AFI and the Sports Authority of India.
Under Bartonietz, Chopra won gold at the Tokyo Olympics, silver at the Paris Games, became world champion and Diamond League champion, and gold medalist at the Asian Games.
