Arrest warrants expected against other iCon Group suspects

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) expects to issue arrest warrants on Saturday for more suspects involved in alleged fraudulent practices by direct selling company The iCon Group.

The company’s CEO, Warathaphon “Boss Paul” WaratyaworrakulHe was among 18 iCon Group executives arrested on Wednesday. They are accused of defrauding people and spreading false information through a computer system.

Pol Major General Jaroonkiat PankaewCIB deputy chief said on Saturday that the suspects in the second group included a person whose name begins with “S” who Warathaphon admitted to having a conversation with in an audio clip that surfaced on social media this week to have led.

Investigators said “S” may have been a politician who had demanded money from Warathaphon in exchange for protection, although the CEO has denied paying any bribes to government agencies.

Jaroonkiat said investigators are also looking into people Warathaphon referred to as “thewada” or “angels” in another audio clip.

In this clip, Warathaphon admitted that he told his subordinates that offerings had to be made to the angels to ensure smooth business operations. However, he said he was referring to mythological creatures and not real people in accordance with his spiritual beliefs.
