The warming trend will continue into next week; only a slight chance of rain

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – I hope everyone had a good week! There is currently an upper level low pressure area in the Four Corners region of the USA. This upper level low will cover us with mostly clouds (particularly west of I-44). However, a scattered shower cannot be ruled out in western areas on Saturday afternoon (10%). On Sunday it looks like the clouds will move back a bit to the west, leaving most areas of southwest Oklahoma with mostly sunny skies, so I’m ruling out any chance of rain on Sunday. On Monday, the storm system moves north, giving us the best chance of rain at 10% across most of southwest Oklahoma, but up to 20% in our northwest areas.

The warming trend will continue through the middle of next week, reaching highs in the 80s this weekend. High temperatures will continue to climb below 90° by the middle of next week. On Wednesday, a cool front is expected to bring cooling temperatures back into the 80s toward the end of the week. Even if this appears to be the case, temperatures will still be about 10 degrees above average.

A few short troughs could produce a light shower or two on Wednesday and Thursday next week, giving me a 10% chance in the forecast for those two days.
