Chilton Co. will receive grant funding for a resurfacing project on County Road 23

CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Governor Kay Ivey has announced funding for a much-needed resurfacing project in Chilton County through Rebuild Alabama.

The project will take place on County Road 23 from US 31 to the Chilton and Elmore County line.

This project will continue the county’s mission to keep its roads safe and modern.

The county was informed just last week that it had been approved for a $350,000 grant for the $1.2 million project.

County leaders say the county has received more than $7 million since Rebuild Alabama began, which has helped improve 35 miles of roads.

Governor Ivey said this latest round of funding creates a total of 11 additional much-needed projects, stretching from Chilton to northern Alabama. “We all know that better roads mean a safer, more prosperous Alabama.”

Jimmie Hardee, Chilton County Commissioner, said, “Rebuilding Alabama made it possible for us to build County Road 23, and I have heard many citizens say thank you for that.” You know, our roads are 45 years old old, 60 years old and we just have to rebuild it.”

This project is scheduled to start later this year.
