Officers arrest Jackson police officers

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Jackson City Police officer on multiple felony charges Saturday, October 12th.

Jackson Police and Fire Department Director Elmer Hitt confirms that Jackson Police Officer Jonathan Debczak is currently on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette said that at 11:17 p.m. on the 12th, officers were called to South West Avenue near Audubon Avenue in Jackson.

Police told officers a 911 caller said there had been a domestic violence incident. Police located a vehicle containing the person who called 911 and stopped it. When officers arrived at the vehicle, they identified the driver as Johnathan Debczak, 38, a Jackson police officer.

As standard practice dictates, officers turned the investigation over to the Sheriff’s Department because one of their officers was involved in the incident.

The sheriff says officers arrested Debczak on domestic violence and drug charges.

Officers sent Debczak to the county jail, where he was later charged with:

Debczak was released on a personal recognizance bond.
