Focusing on industry contributions ahead of a public release, Meta (META, Financials) unveiled the continuation of its AI-driven film production tool suite, Meta Movie Gen, through 2025. With just simple text hints, Movie Gen models allow users to create high-quality, high-resolution films 1080p movie with sound. Early engagement with the creative community will help Meta improve its tools before release.

Along with certain artists such as directors Aneesh Chaganty, The Spurlock Sisters and Casey Affleck, Meta collaborated with Blumhouse, a production company known for horror films, on the pilot. While testing Movie Gen technology, participants commented on how artificial intelligence models can improve creative processes. Meta’s Movie Gen page will feature short films produced by these artists and additional releases in the future.

Connor Hayes, vice president of generative AI at Meta, noted that while the tools won’t be included in public goods until next year, the company is dedicated to open communication with artists to ensure ethical development.

The test study includes comments on improving Movie Gen’s models and user interface and runs through 2025. Meta aims to portray the technology as a major advantage for digital-first content producers and the entertainment sector.

The latest updates on Meta focus on collaborations and the release of new AI-powered products. Recently, Meta introduced its “Orion” augmented reality glasses, the most advanced AR glasses ever developed.
