Overcoming adversity and taking a week at a time.

Overcoming adversity and taking a week at a time.

As the Jaguars won two straight games in London in 2023, moving from 1-2 to 2-3 and starting a five-game winning streak, Pederson spoke of the positive aspects of the trip in terms of camaraderie and preparation. He said this week’s trip had a similar impact after their 35-16 loss to the Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London last Sunday.

“It was obviously a great eight, nine, 10 days out here, bonding the team together,” he said. “Look: we are all disappointed. We are frustrated. We feel like we should be record-breakingly better than we are. We are better than our record suggests.”

“This week was huge. Every day got better. Emotionally things got better. And you can see that in practice. You can see the boys flying around and having fun. There is enthusiasm. There is laughter. There is joking. It’s just fun in practice, then you get the job done when you need to get it done. At this time it is important that we spend this week and a half here.

Pederson said he saw concrete evidence of that approach throughout the week in “how our guys focused on the game plan, their attention to detail and training, the excitement and enthusiasm to get back on the field and just keep working.” .”

“I don’t see anyone giving it up, giving up or going the other way,” he said. “Everyone pushes each other, and I push them. I push the coaches and these are all positive things. These are things that drive us and move us forward. This is what we have to do.”
